The Vice Provost is the deputy chief academic officer of the university and fulfills a variety of functions as assigned by the Provost. Dr. McAllister monitors office budgets, works collaboratively with Human Resources on employment procedures and salary analyses for vacant positions in the division of Academic Affairs, prepares Board motions related to Faculty Senate actions, serves as HIPAA complaint officer, guides the review of academic programs, facilitates transfer and articulation agreements, and provides leadership to Academic Advising & Career Services.
Additionally, the Vice Provost serves on a number of ad hoc committees (e.g., Space Utilization, Strategic Planning, and Pedagogy for Students with Disabilities) convenes the first meeting of the University Tenure and Promotion and Sabbatical Leave Advisory Committee, and fulfills other duties assigned by the provost.
In his spare time, Dr. McAllister strives to be an active practitioner of the teacher-scholar model – teaching undergraduate courses in management science and graduate courses in higher education administration as well as publishing research in supply chain management, instructional practices, and higher education strategy. He also volunteers in the summer camping programs of the Boy Scouts of America and serves as the chapter advisor for Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
