What is the difference between a classic and premium meal plan?

Classic meal plans allow students to use one meal during each of the designated meal times (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) up to their total number of meals per week. As an example, a student with a classic 15 meal plan can use only one meal from their weekly allotment, during a specific meal time. Any meal not used during the week does not carry over to the next week, so we encourage students to consider their eating habits and select the meal plan they believe will match the number of meals each week they will eat.

Premium meal plans give students additional flexibility as they can utilize more than one meal from their weekly allotment during each of the meal times. As an example, a student with a premium 15 meal plan can use more than one meal during a specific meal time. The advantage of this is a student can use two or three meals at one meal time if they want to eat an additional meal, purchase a second meal for a friend, or buy a snack to take back to their room. This added flexibility gives students maximum opportunity to get full use of their meal plan.

Any meal not used during the week from either the classic or premium meal plans, does not carry over to the next week. We encourage students to consider their eating habits and select the meal plan they believe will match the number of meals each week they will eat.

What are flex dollars?

Flex Dollars are cash stored electronically on your Student ID card and come with each of the meal plans. These dollars are used as a declining balance at any campus dining location to cover overages with your Value Exchange and to buy additional meals, food items, snacks, beverages, etc. Flex Dollar amounts are provided for the entire semester. Should you run out, additional Flex Dollars can be purchased separately from Chartwells in the form of Redbucks, which never expire. Any Flex Dollars remaining on your meal plan at the end of the semester are not transferred to the following semester and are not refundable. Be sure to budget your Flex Dollars appropriately to get the maximum value out of your meal plan.
