With two outstanding recreational facilities and a student aquatic center available, it is easy to be active at Southeast.  The Student Recreation Center and Student Recreation Center South Campus are available to you at all times of the day for individual and group sport and fitness needs.  Join an intramural team and play organized sports to compete with other Southeast students or officiate at one of the games. Join a club sport like lacrosse or roller hockey and develop new interests. Take a kickboxing class, invest in the help of a personal trainer or challenge yourself on the climbing wall. Try out these and a variety of other recreational opportunities all while having fun and meeting new people! 

The new Student Aquatic Center is an $8.5 million, 31,922-square-foot facility with the following features:

  • The 2,915-square-foot leisure pool is nine feet at its deepest point
  • The leisure pool features a 40-foot high boulder wall with four waterfalls allowing patrons the thrill of climbing and falling into the seven-foot-deep leisure pool
  • Indoor zip line running 20 to 25 yards across the leisure pool allowing patrons to grab the bar and push themselves out over the water
  • Six-lane, 25-yard, 3,868-square-foot lap pool for competitive swimming
  • A 12-person hot tub
  • Artificial palm trees and vegetation giving the facility a tropical feel
  • State-of-the-art men’s and women’s locker rooms
  • Three family changing rooms
  • Aquatic multi-purpose room
  • Lifeguard and professional staff offices
  • Chemical and control systems with 21st-century aquatic technology

New and improved programs added to the Student Recreation Services line-up for the Student Aquatic Center include:

  • Late night alternative programming for Southeast students 
  • Swimming lesson programs for youth and adults 
  • Intramural water basketball Intramural water polo 
  • Intramural swimming meets 
  • New sport club opportunities 
  • “Friday Night Family Swim” – a program open to all community members for free 
  • Water aerobic and fitness classes 
  • Master swimming opportunities 
  • Swim birthday parties for youth 
  • “School Lock-Ins” or “After Prom” celebrations 
  • “Dive-In” movies
